HELP!! Why can’t I send an SMS (aka text) to a short code?
My contract with AT&T just ended so I got a new phone with a different service. It’s MetroPCS. Don’t laugh. Money’s tight, so I had to go with the cheap. I got this phone, the Kyocera Melo or whatever. And I can text and reply to phone numbers just fine, but when I send a text message to a short code, say 40404 (for Twitter Mobile), it always brings back an error message. Is it that my phone isn’t compatible with these or is it something else?
Good question. You are correct. Short codes need to be supported by your carrier.Here is an exmaple:
Dont know if you watch American Idol, but for example voting for AT&T customers requires only a short code because AT&T is the sponsor and thus has configured its network to support it.
